Presse

»Hapeyeva is a boundary-blurring magician of words, something that becomes quite evident in these short stories, in which words, tone, rhythm and the precise observations combine to create a shimmering pull.« (ND Literature)

»It shows us (Westerners) a world right next to ours, in which many things were very different … Refreshingly different!« (Dierk Wolters, Frankfurter Neue Presse)

»Born in Minsk in 1982, the author hints with subtle irony at what was characteristic of her generation: an authoritarian school system, a dogmatic state ideology, an ambivalent relationship with the Soviet Union, the nuclear accident in neighbouring Ukraine, an economy of scarcity and a reactionary image of women.« (Amnesty Journal)
